“Twist of Yarn” is an adaptation of Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Wife of Bath’s Prologue” and “The Wife of Bath’s Tale,” cast in the format of a police procedural, in this case, the format of the television series Homicide Hunter, and based on the theory that when a story is read, the characters come alive in the minds of the reader.

Thus, Police Lieutenant John Guerrero has detained Peter Cruz to question him about the disappearance of an older woman with whom the young man was seen when he first arrived on Guam. Guerrero’s interview is interrupted by the arrival of Cruz’s wife Penny at the station, and both Guerrero and Detective Sabrina Sablan proceed with interviews of the couple, individually and together.
